weekend treasures

a couple goodies to brighten my weekend…

dscf0030.jpg

the freshcut fabric i ordered! i HAD to have some of this, and was very excited to have my package arrive pronto on saturday. if i am pregnant with a girl (to be determined soon), then i intend on basing the colors of her room on the fabric on the far right… and they all will make their way into a quilt for her too. if i’m actually prego with boy #3 i’m not too worried about finding use for this fabric… i love it!! check out the freshcut designer, heather bailey, here.

treasure #2… this sweet vintage suitcase set (of three!!) which i scored at a church rummage sale for a big 50¢. there’s my pooch, belle, posing with the luggage (the close-up is more true to the color). just a couple of things that make me smile :)

this here is the purl bee’s blanket, and this photo can be found here. their website is great and has tons of fun crafty ideas and know-how!

i have recently discovered these and am obsessed!! i don’t know how to crochet, but have already ordered books to learn, and have been at it just about every night. …MUST MAKE A BABETTE BLANKET… i feel like a zombie. anywho, here are a few links to the flickr group and to a couple other hot granny-square-afghan-making spots. you really must check these out.

UPDATE: the pattern for this blanket can be purchased as a pdf at interweave’s website.

also, my review of the books i ordered to learn how to make this bad-boy can be found here.

baby burp cloths & a tulip for you!

April 26, 2007 · 1 Comment

Here are some baby burp cloths which i enjoy whipping up with flannel fabric that i have to have. a couple of them, together with matching bibs or applique onsies, make an easy shower gift too.

here is some future baby goods fabric i have been holding on to for some time now… i really enjoy this red paisley-ish flannel.

sprucing up the homestead

April 18, 2007 · 6 Comments

i can’t resist buying a beautiful ranunculus when i see one, and i potted this one about a week ago.

in the spirit of spring, i also picked up some strawberry plants and some type of lily bulbs which i also planted.

these beautiful daffodils in our front planters opened up while we were in texas for easter. it was so nice to come home to such a cheery home!

on a non-flower related note, today i decided it was time to spruce up the kitchen cabinet knobs. i have been looking at buying new ones, but because i don’t have a clear direction as to how i am going to decorate my kitchen, i thought a little silver spray-paint (aka. my best friend) was in order. here are some before (worn down brassy-gold color), and after shots.

book frames

April 11, 2007 · 2 Comments

here is a link to a “how-to” article about turning old books with cool covers into pictures frames. I hope to give this a try sometime… we have massive amounts of old yard-sale books just waiting to be used. Cheers!
