here is a sweet, retro, “versatile jumper” pattern that i found at a thrift store this past weekend. i am going to make the original pattern, and if i like it, i will (hopefully) make a second with a different neckline… probably more square, or a scoop neck rather than the V. there are pockets under the front-top layer which wrap around from the back. It’s pretty interesting. it makes more sense by looking at the flat sketch on the back. i think this little number will be really fun for the summer!

a birdy for my baby

i made this little guy for my 6 month old. he really likes lots of things to grab and chew, so the little wings are nice. the button eyes are probably a choking hazard but i’m not too worried about him biting them off. if they become loose i can always embroider little eyes on him. i want to make a second that has legs and maybe some fun tail “feathers.”

my thrifted rocker

i got this sweet, brown velvet rocker for twenty big ones (well, to be honest, my mom spent the twenty big ones on it for us. haha). the faux-vintage poster was a gift from my mother-in-law who thought i wasn’t going to like it… turns out to be one of my favorite things! :) i guess i ought to frame it, eh?

i am making matching quilts for my boys, jed and micah. i wanted the blankets to evoke a rainy/stormy day feeling. the stripes kinda remind me of ocean waves which also seems fitting as i am going to hand quilt the top with horizontal wavy lines. this one has yet to be ironed (sorry), because it is not finished…almost though! i am going to back them with a sky blue cotton, which was actually a high-quality sheet that i used to make the curtains in their room. better pictures to come when it is no longer a work-in-progress! cheers!
bread-making

my goal after i graduated was to make home-made bread… and lots of it!
almost a year after graduating, here is my second attempt at some good old-fashioned lunch bread. fortunately, the outcome here was much more successful than the first attempt.
the recipe can be found in hot providence, my church’s cookbook.
